Question 1

What is Hi-Score?

Accepted Answer

Hi-Score is South Africa's skill games league. You play short games on your phone, post your best score to a ranked board, and the top score when the league closes takes the prize.

Question 2

Does luck play a part?

Accepted Answer

No. There are no random draws, no spins and no odds. Every ranked attempt is built to be equally hard, and your result comes only from how well you play.

Question 3

Who can play?

Accepted Answer

Anyone 18 or older who lives in South Africa. One account per person and per cellphone number. We confirm your identity before you buy rounds and again before any prize goes out.

Question 4

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Practice is free. Ranked rounds start at R5 and every price is shown before you pay. There are no subscriptions and no paid continues.

Question 5

Do I need to download an app?

Accepted Answer

No. Hi-Score runs in the browser on your phone, Android or iPhone. The games are small, so they load fast and go easy on your data.

Question 6

What if my phone dies or the connection drops mid-attempt?

Accepted Answer

The attempt is closed and a credit goes back on your account automatically, so you can play it again. You don't have to ask. Credits are limited where interruptions look deliberate.

Question 7

How is a tie broken?

Accepted Answer

Each game has its own tiebreak, shown in the rules before you play. In Ponte it is the closest average landing. Monthly prizes are settled with a live playoff.

Question 8

How do I get my prize?

Accepted Answer

We contact you, confirm your identity, and arrange delivery or collection. Prizes are the physical items shown in the league. There is no cash alternative.

Question 9

How do you stop cheating?

Accepted Answer

Our server replays every ranked attempt and decides the score. Runs with timing a person can't produce are held for review. See Fair play for how it works.

Question 10

What do you do with my information?

Accepted Answer

We use it to run your account, pay out prizes and, only if you say yes, to send you news. It is stored in South Africa. See our privacy notice for the details.
